Earning one proves that you’ve not only gained deep expertise in coaching, but also the ability to inspire and guide clients toward their fullest potential. When you have one, it means you’ve demonstrated that you can elevate clients to new heights and guide them to deeper self-awareness and real-world results.
The MCC credential is for seasoned coaches who have built their careers around excellence and impact. To qualify, you’ll need to show 200 hours of coach-specific education and 2,500 hours of coaching experience. This credential is more than a title; it’s a commitment to lifelong learning, reflection, and mastery of the ICF Core Competencies and ICF Code of Ethics.
MCC Eligibility Requirements
- 200 hours of coaching education.
- 2,500 coaching experience hours (including at least 2,250 paid hours).
- 10 hours of mentor coaching.
- Successful completion of a performance evaluation.
- Passing score on the ICF Credentialing Exam.
MCC Application Paths: Choose Your Route
There are two paths to becoming an MCC: the Level 3 path and the Portfolio path. Level 3 Path
For coaches who have completed an ICF-accredited Level 3 program, which includes the necessary education and mentor coaching hours.

Portfolio Path
For coaches who use a mix of accredited (excluding Level 3 education) and non-accredited courses, demonstrating their qualifications with detailed documentation of their education and experience.
